Unibox is designed to minimize credential exposure and keep mailbox access between your Mac and your email provider. No software can promise zero risk, so we explain the safeguards instead of making impossible guarantees.
OAuth where supported
Google and Microsoft sign-ins use OAuth, so Unibox does not ask for or store those provider passwords.
Secrets in macOS Keychain
OAuth tokens, Yahoo app passwords, IMAP/SMTP credentials, OpenAI keys, and subscription access are protected by Apple’s Keychain.
Encrypted connections
Mail connections use HTTPS, TLS, or STARTTLS to communicate securely with Gmail, Microsoft, Yahoo, and your configured mail server.
No central email warehouse
Your mailbox stays with its provider. Unibox keeps a bounded working cache on your Mac; its subscription service does not store your email content.
Authenticated app access
Server-signed sessions validate subscription access, while sensitive local access state remains protected in Keychain.
You control removal
Disconnect an account to remove its Unibox connection. Provider access can also be revoked from Google or Microsoft security settings.

Which email accounts can I add?
Gmail and Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Outlook, Yahoo Mail, and standards-based IMAP/SMTP accounts. There is no fixed account limit.
Is this a full email client?
Yes. Unibox supports reading, rich composing, replies, forwarding, attachments, drafts, Sent, search, contacts, signatures, folders, bulk actions, Undo Send, scheduled delivery, snooze, reminders, Spam and Not Spam, Trash, Archive, and provider-specific organization such as Gmail labels and categories.
How are my email accounts protected?
Google and Microsoft use OAuth. Tokens, Yahoo app passwords, IMAP/SMTP credentials, and optional OpenAI keys are stored in macOS Keychain. Provider traffic uses encrypted connections, and the Unibox subscription service does not store your mailbox content.
Does Unibox guarantee my account cannot be hacked?
No responsible software can guarantee zero risk. Unibox reduces exposure by avoiding plaintext secret storage, using OAuth where available, protecting credentials with Apple Keychain, encrypting provider connections, and avoiding a central server-side archive of your email.
How does AI work?
AI is optional and off by default. Add your own OpenAI API key to summarize, identify actions, assess priority, draft replies or LinkedIn messages, or enable limited automatic triage. Attachments are never sent to OpenAI.
Does Unibox send LinkedIn messages for me?
No. It creates an editable draft and opens LinkedIn, where you review and send the message yourself. Unibox does not scrape LinkedIn or automate sending.
